The purpose of the “Winterfest: What’s Your Tradition?” window display contest is for a downtown business, organization or restaurant to develop and show downtown community support and involvement during the winter months. There are NO FEES involved.
Rather than approaching the holiday season solely with Christmas traditions, we want to evoke the spirit of the time period and create window displays that express other holiday traditions too, such as Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, or themes around the winter months, like a winter wonderland, or a winter tradition you celebrated with your family or friends. Perhaps you built gingerbread houses, knitted snow mittens or sipped hot cocoa on a cold winter night. With a little c
reativity and imagination all these ideas can be incorporated into a beautiful winter window display. >More examples.
Any participating business or organization will create their own window title and theme to work with “Winterfest: What’s Your Tradition?” If you’re a business or organization that doesn’t have a storefront, we encourage you to partner with a business that does. Either work together or ask to use their window!
A number will be given to each window in the contest. The number and title of the window should be displayed in a lower corner of the window. The number allows for simple voting. Each window will be judged on its own merit.
Three $200 prizes will be awarded:
Judges’ Choice
Fans’ Choice
Mayor’s Choice
Window displays should be in place no later than 9:00am December 1st, 2011 and they should remain in place throughout the holidays. Final voting will take place on December 30th, 2011. All window displays should remain up through January 31st, 2012.
